Mr. Allen Kelly, Jr., affectionately known to his family as Ulysses, was born on February 5, 1947, in Blythewood, South Carolina. He was the fifth child of Allen Kelly, Sr. and Lois Young Kelly. He departed this life on Friday, July 9, 2021, surrounded by his family.Mr. Kelly was educated in the public schools of Richland County, SC. He graduated from Bethel High School. He was drafted into the United States Army at Fort Jackson, SC, and served in the Vietnam War.Mr. Kelly was a man of many talents and trades including: farming, logging, and welding. He loved spending time outdoors, and was passionate about caring for his farm animals. He also enjoyed reading.Mr. Kelly accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, and was baptized along with Ethel, who later became his wife. He was a faithful member of Round Top Baptist Church, until his passing.He was preceded in death by: his parents, Allen Kelly, Sr. and Lois Young Kelly; brother, Henry Allen Kelly; and a sister, Viola K. Robertson.Mr. Allen Kelly, Jr. leaves behind many to not only mourn his death, but cherish his memory and celebrate his life. Among them are: his loving wife of 52 years, Ethel Mae Miles Kelly; a son, Randy (Rickell) Kelly, of Blythewood, SC; brothers, Cleveland (Nora) Kelly and Glormack Kelly, both of Columbia, SC; sisters, Yvonne K. Gidron, Patricia (Andrew) Johnson, Constelena (Governor) Cunningham, Norma (Napoleon) Tolbert, Doreathe Jones, and Linda (Leon) Hillian, all of Blythewood, SC; grandchildren, Alexis Hill and Randy Allen Kelly, both of Blythewood, SC; great-grandchild, Kailey Smith, of Blythewood, SC; five brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; godchildren, Shaneki Bell, Willie Harrison, Jr., and Nona Thompson; a host of nephews, nieces; other relatives, and friends, all of whom join the family in sharing in their grief and will deeply miss Mr. Kelly.

    I was surprised when I heard about Allen, Allen and I were in the same grade at Bethel High School. I’m very sorry to hear about your loss to the Allen Family. I pray that God keep the Family in Perfect Peace. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Allen has gone home to be with the Lord.
