01. System choice

SpeeTile

Heating system built into subfloor, wall or ceiling and with a low total height.

Underfloor, wall or ceiling heating and cooling

Each situation in which you consider installing underfloor, wall or ceiling heating and cooling is unique. Whatever challenge you may be facing, our two systems, SpeeTile and SpeeTherm, offer you a suitable solution.

Most people choose underfloor heating. You can achieve this with SpeeTile (for floors installed using adhesive) or SpeeTherm (for rigid floating floors such as laminate flooring, parquet, plank flooring or floor panels).

What if you can’t fit underfloor heating due to space constraints but still want extra comfort, in your bathroom for example? Wall heating with our SpeeTile system is the ideal solution in rooms where you require comfortable warmth. The perfect replacement for a (design) radiator or for extra comfort in the shower.

Radiant heat from the ceiling heating system maintains a comfortable temperature. Our SpeeTile System is suitable as your main primary source of heating. The ceiling heating system can also be used to cool the space in the summer. No air conditioning, no cold feet but still a refreshingly cool house.

SpeeTherm

Dry-build underfloor heating system with a low total height. Can be fitted as a floating system and will be ready for use quickly.

For new-build homes and renovation projects

A sustainable and future-proof system is the smart choice for a new-build home. In addition to underfloor heating, you can also choose wall heating or ceiling heating. Whatever system you choose, it can be laid in just hours. Particularly useful when you have to get a lot done quickly!

If you are going to embark on a renovation project, you should explore your options for heating and/or cooling the rooms in question first. Traditional underfloor heating is heavy and often needs a significant installation height, which is definitely not available in all situations. Furthermore, cutting chases is not always possible, if you live in an apartment, for example, or your subfloor is not suitable.

In historic buildings, the best approach is to heat evenly. This prevents changes in humidity that might cause cracks in the structure. Radiators are not ideal in this situation: underfloor heating, wall heating or ceiling heating are better choices. A further important point to consider is the installation of these systems. Your hands are often tied by strict rules and regulations during the entire renovation project. Cutting chases may not be permitted, for example, or may simply not be possible because the building has wooden subfloors. Furthermore, you cannot simply pour a thick layer of cement on top of a wooden subfloor. With our two versatile, complete and easily installed systems, we always have a solution available for your renovation projects and upgrades in protected buildings.

02. Product choice

Quickly and easily find all the parts and components you need for underfloor, wall and ceiling heating and
cooling; for use in all situations in new-build construction and renovation projects. Everything you need for quick and easy installation is supplied from our factory in the Netherlands.

You can order loose parts and accessories or opt for our complete package. In the latter case, we arrange everything for you: from design and production to installation. As an added benefit, you have a single point of contact for all your questions.

  • The floor can be walked on 4 hours after levelling with SpeeTop levelling mortar.
  • Once the SpeeTop levelling mortar has hardened, the system must be brought up to temperature gradually over the course of 9 days.
  • The SpeeTile 12 system consists of:
    –modular synthetic mats(H=15 mm)

  • The SpeeTile 10 system must be fixed to a stable surface that is suitable for plastering. Drywall screws can be used to fasten the system to wood/fermacell panels. For masonry walls, use the masonry anchor provided in every SpeeTile.
  • The system can be finished with plaster or cob. The total installation thickness, including wall heating, is ± 20 mm.
  • Ask your plasterer whether the wall should be treated with a primer before installation.
  • The SpeeTile wall heating system has been tested and certified by Knauf Germany.

Connection

  • Central heating boiler:the heating system must be connected to the central heating boiler by means of a plastic distributor and pump unit equipped with a thermometer/manometer, adjustable flow meters and an energy efficient A-label Grundfos Alpha2 pump.
  • District heating/block heating:the heating system must be connected to the district heating installation by means of a plastic distributor with a pump unit and check valve equipped with a thermometer/manometer, adjustable flow meters and an energy efficient A-label Grundfos Alpha2 pump.
  • Heat pump LTHW:(Low Temperature Hot Water, primary source <40°C): the heating system must be connected to the heat pump using a plastic distributor without a pump (open plastic distributor). This distributor is double-walled, and reduces condensation when cooling.

The SpeeTube heating hoses Ø10 and Ø12 mm are connected to the distributor usingPushFit couplings.

  • There are three types of PushFit couplings: single, double (splitter) and repair couplings. The couplings are 3/4” euroconus fittings.
  • The PushFit splitter allows for two heating hose groups to be connected to a single distributor group. Two groups connected to a single splitter must be of equal length.
  • The diameter of the supply and return lines to the central heating boiler or district heating:
    • distributors for up to 7 groups: minimum Ø 15 mm, connection ½”.
    • distributors for 8 or more groups: minimum Ø 20 mm, connection¾”.
  • The diameter of the supply and return lines to the heat pump or LTHW: ask the supplier for the specific system specifications.

Please note: WARP Systems cannot connect the system to the primary heating source. This must always be done by a certified plumber.

Subfloor

For concrete, cement or anhydrite surfaces:

  • The SpeeTile system follows the subfloor.
  • Any irregularities and small indentations can be levelled using SpeeTop levelling mortar.
  • The floor must be clean, dry and free of grease or oil. For concrete and cement floors, residual moisture < 3%; for anhydrite floors < 0.3%.
  • The subfloor must be treated with a primer before installing the SpeeTile system. The primer keeps the subfloor from absorbing moisture and allows the SpeeTop levelling mortar to adhere to the subfloor surface.

For wood subfloors:

  • The subfloor must be smooth and rigid.
  • Any seams or cracks must be filled before installation.

Insulation

  • The insulation layer must be able to withstand at least 250 Kpa of pressure and fixed to the subfloor with adhesive.
  • Seal all cracks and seams with waterproof tape.
  • Install the SpeeTile system to the insulation layer using SpeeTackers.

For other subfloor types:

For other types of subfloors or combinations of subfloors, please contact us for advice.

For concrete, cement or anhydrite surfaces:

  • Ask your plasterer whether the subsurface should be treated with a primer before installation.
  • Ask your plasterer whether the finish surface should be treated with a basecoat mesh.
  • A 1.2 mm heat foil can be applied on top of the SpeeTherm 15 heating system. This will reduce contact noise by 24%, and is suitable for floor heating.
  • The heat foil is easy to roll out on top of the SpeeTherm system. The grey perforated foam layer must be facing up.
  • The floating floor finish can be applied immediately once the floor heating has been installed.

Heating

  • The floor can be walked on 4 hours after levelling with SpeeTop levelling mortar.
  • Depending on the ambient temperature, you can begin the gradual heating protocol after 24 hours (or 72 hours for temperatures under 15°C).
  • The system must be gradually brought up to temperature over the course of 9 days to allow the floor to set properly.
  • Adjust the room thermostat to a level that requires the floor heating system to draw warm water. You can do this by setting the room thermostat to a higher temperature than the ambient temperature.
  • Start day 1 with 20°C water temperature at the distributor thermostat head. Increase the temperature by 5°C every 24 hours until you reach 40°C water temperature.
  • Then lower the temperature by 5°C every 24 hours until you reach 20°C water temperature.

Once you have completed the commissioning protocol, you can install the floor finish. Follow the supplier’s recommendations and instructions for installing the floor finish.

  • The SpeeTherm system does not need to dry before installing the floor finish.
  • Simply install the rigid, floating floor finish, then activate the floor heating system.
  • Follow the supplier’s recommendations and instructions for installing the floor finish.
